Dr. Haber performs in-office neck ultrasonography for the diagnosis of thyroid and parathyroid disease, and for surveillance for recurrent disease in thyroid cancer patients. He has directed courses in thyroid ultrasonography sponsored by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. Ultrasonography is of great value in the evaluation and management of patients with thyroid disease, especially thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer, and is used to guide fine-needle aspiration biopsy of thyroid nodules. It also makes possible pre-operative imaging of enlarged parathyroid glands in many patients with hyperparathyroidism. Dr. Haber directs the Bone Densitometry Program at Mount Sinai.
